Teens Nutrition

We often hear from Teens and Parents in the summer months with questions surrounding nutrition, diet and lifestyle choices. Some relating to family commitments, summer jobs, athletics, school, heading off to college or university. Teens nutrition needs vary from time to time especially during times of anxiety and stress.

Meal planning may be challenging and nutritionist Bruce Bonner has some great tips for healthy eating and snacking while traveling, living away from home, or due to a hectic lifestyle, along with any athletic commitments.

Popular specific and sometimes necessary dietary choices such as a gluten free, dairy free, paleo, keto, vegan or vegetarian can have adverse affects. If not done properly.  Expert nutritional guidance and support will ensure you look and feel great. Ultimately you need to be at your very best while juggling school, travel, athletics, exams, and more.

Not all teens are created equal. Some have specific growth spurts, soreness, fatigue and malaise. Anxiety can be a common concern in young adolescents. Acne can be compounded by diet, exercise and less than optimal nutrition decisions.

Infectious mononucleosis is a common infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It is also known as glandular fever, the kissing disease, and mono.

Symptoms of infectious mononucleosis include fatigue, sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. There is no treatment for mono, but supportive care involves resting and drinking plenty of fluids. The illness resolves without treatment, but symptoms may last from several weeks to months. This can be a tough situation for a teen to navigate. As it often has an affect on a school term, sports activities, and social life of a teenager.
